What Is God Doing?

I am the vine, and you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in Him,

bears much fruit: for without Me you can do nothing.

  John15:5 - NKJV

Who knew that a virus, named Covid-19 would take the whole world down a “rabbit hole"? It doesn’t seem to want to end anytime soon either. I remember going to bed one evening and awakening to the fact, people were dying and the world was closing down and there was nothing I could do about it. It was the unknown that tripped me up. As time went on, I began to relate even more to the children of Israel. They were marched around in the desert for 40 years before they saw their promise land or were aware of what God was doing. Life changes sometimes, very fast, or slow and is not what you expected.

I pray sometimes, that God shows me what He is doing so I can help HIM accomplish His will in the world. I guess, it is my selfishness that thinks I could ever help God sort anything out. However, there are some who are quite complacent and are perfectly content to just do nothing in their circumstance. I figure my challenge each day is to find out what God is doing in the part of the world where I live and join Him in doing whatever that is.

For God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us to do good works, which God planned in advance for us to live our lives doing.

Ephesians 2:10 - NCV

When I look around I see evidence of his activity. God is involved in institutions (hospitals) that care for people. He is obvious in causes that promote good values and strong principles. Let us be aware of where God is working, and join him there. Whether it be serving meals, taking someone in or just praying with someone who is hurting. Discern the divine in our everyday life and join forces with God in what He is doing. I pray we give ourselves to God’s work.

It is because, after this suffering and crises is over with Covid-19, there may be a harvest of new believers to sow seeds among. Chaplains will be perfect for such a time! May you be encouraged that God will work through you because you are the branch on His vine. Amen!
